Who we are

“UMZI” means Home in the African XHOSA language. UMZI is a newly formed company with a vision to bring high quality South African products that are stylish, exciting and innovative to the market. We are a Small, Medium Enterprise (SMME) being a 100% Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) Company. This newly created company is built on the foundation of it’s founding member who started in the leather industry in 1965 by making shoes and handbags. In the mid nineties he saw an opening in the market and began making leather clad furniture and other accessories. Driving this vision are his daughter who is strategically placing UMZI as the leader in producing designer home and office furniture. Umzi is situated in Cape Town South Africa, home to many artisans and craftsmen. We employ local people and where possible use local raw materials.
